The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, says it launched a cruise missile strike against Amazon Web Services’ me-south-1 data center in Bahrain. According to the statement, the attack was part of Operation Lightning, launched in response to a U.S. strike on Iran’s Darkhovin nuclear facility.
The Bahrain AWS region is one of the Gulf’s most important cloud hubs, supporting banking systems, telecommunications, government services, and thousands of online applications across the region.
The claim comes after AWS recently experienced service disruptions following a nearby drone incident. However, there is currently no independent confirmation that this newly claimed missile strike actually hit the data center or caused damage.
