A REST API defines a set of functions to process requests and responses via HTTP protocol.
Rest is just a concept to implement that we need implementation.

If you have a Class and its Objects and you want to send these object to client side,
you will have to convert these objects into xml or json.
Before sending objects you will have to accept the request from client side and for that you need to create an application.
To create an application for REST you can use Maven with Jersey Project
